Show home visit by our Western Bay Member of Parliament Todd Muller
The ECOSTAR team was privileged to welcome a private visit by our Western Bay of Plenty Member of Parliament Todd Muller.
Todd was joined by Mr. Bill Holland a current member of the TECT Board to view the show home which is the first ten star design Homestar rated home in New Zealand. The ECOSTAR technical team was there to give an overview of the efficiencies the installed solar and photovoltaic panels save on the running costs of the home. Todd was very impressed by the ingenuity of the hot water and underfloor system interaction which had been adapted to make it even more productive than expected by the manufacturer by good old fashion KIWI “can do”.
Both Todd and Bill were very interested in the use of our recyclable battery power packs being charged via solar generation, and the recycling of rain and grey water systems incorporated in the design. The use of fully insulated slabs and additional wall insulation along with Argon filled glass were noted by both Todd and Bill. The soundproofed media room was a favorite, and the 5 star Lifemark rating was seen as a good addition to a long list of advantages in purchasing an ECOSTAR home.
Todd felt that our commitment to energy efficient and sustainable homes for New Zealand should be applauded, and would be sharing his findings with fellow MPs.
